A loan of $1,025 helped buy cement.

Basilia's story

Basilia is a member of the Señor de Los Milagros (Our Father of Miracles) Communal Bank.

Basilia is 39 years old and lives with her husband and their three children. She and her husband own a hardware store in their home on El Ejercito Avenue where they sell iron rods, tubes, cement, sand, and stones. They also deliver to clients' homes with a small car that they own. Her husband brings in the sand and stone from the city's quarries with a dump truck.

Basilia needs a loan of 3000 soles (about US $1,025), which she will use to buy cement. Her dreams are to have more cars, offer a wider variety of products in her hardware store, to have her own money and for her children to grow up to be professionals.
