A loan of $425 helped to buy various products for resale.

Fanta's story

Fanta was born around 1979 in Bamako, she lives with her husband and two children in a nuclear family in N'Tentou, in the town of Ouelessebougou (Koulikoro region of the Republic of Mali). Fanta did not have the opportunity to continue with her school studies, and began earning a living at a young age.

This will be Fanta's first loan with the field partner, Soro Yiriwaso, and it will be used to buy fabric, wax pagnes (traditional wrap-around clothing) and cups for resale. She buys her supplies in Lome in Burkina Faso, and sells her products for cash or credit, from her home and at the local fairs and markets. Her customers are both men and women.

Fanta expects to earn a monthly average of 75,000 francs CFA, which will be used to help her husband provide for the needs of their family, repay her loan and reinvest in her business.
