Kea, 31, lives with her family members in a rural village of Kampong Cham province’s Ponhea Krek district, Cambodia. She has two dependent children. For the last 13 years, she and her husband have been farming rice and planting rubber trees as main sources of their family’s income. The current business earns her about KHR 44,000 per day.
Kea has been with VisionFund for three cycles and completely paid back the past loans which have helped her better support her family. Now she is applying for a fourth loan. Kea is going to buy fertilizers for her rubber trees and use a portion of her loan on buying more piglets. She hopes this loan will enable her to earn more income for her family.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
