A loan of $700 helped to purchase small animals (pigs and sheep) and to purchase material for making tiles.

Flor Violeta's story

Mrs. Flor Violeta A. B. is 24 years old and lives on Spring Avenue in the district of Mache, Otuzco Province, in La libertad, Perú. Flor Violeta studied through the second year of high school, but she did not continue studying after she got married. When she was 16 she married William Rafael Vidal and she has a daughter and son, both still very young.

She is dedicated to making and selling tiles and to the purchase and sale of animals. Her first loan from Manuela Ramos was for 300 soles (approximately $100 US), and she remembers that she purchased wheat, corn, and other basics, along with guinea pigs, which she resold for a higher price. She repaid the loan in 4 months. With her current loan request of 2000 soles ($700 US), she will invest in the purchase of pigs, two sheep, and material for making tiles. This loan will be repaid in four installments.

Flor Violeta dreams of continuing her studies and becoming a good nurse. In her neighborhood she serves as a good member of the communal diner Corazón de María (Heart of María), and she also belongs to the Communal Bank Mujeres de Trabajo (Women of Work), where she is a responsible and reliable member.
