Danaya Group
In this Group: Mamou, Korotoumou, Kadia, Ramata, Safiatou, Ba Diallo
The Danaya Group consists of six married women who have an average age of 38 years and an average of five children each. They live in traditional extended families in the Dougounina district of the city of Bougouni. They know one another through ties of vicinity, friendship and commerce. To increase their financial capacity and improve their commerce, the group joined the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso and are currently on their third loan cycle. Their two prior loans loans have been repaid in full.

This group of women sells cosmetics. Ba Diallo is shown in the photo standing on the far right. With her loan, she intends to purchase various grades of cosmetics from wholesalers in Bougouni. Ba Diallo retails her merchandise at the market and from her home, for cash and on credit to a mixed clientele. She hopes to earn an average monthly income of 50,000 Francs CFA which she will use to reinvest in her business and repay her loan.

Le groupe DANAYA est constitué de 6 femmes toutes mariées ayant une moyenne d’âge de 38 ans et 5 enfants. Elles vivent dans des familles traditionnelles élargies dans le quartier DOUGOUNINA de la ville de Bougouni.
Elles se sont connues à travers des liens de voisinage, d’amitié et de commerce. Pour renforcer leur capacité financière afin de mieux faire leur commerce, elles ont adhéré à l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso avec laquelle elles sont à leur 3ème prêt. Les 2 précédents prêts ont été correctement remboursés. Ce groupe de femmes fait le commerce de produits cosmétiques à l’image de BA DIALLO qui est la 1ère femme debout dans la photo de la droite vers la gauche. Elle compte acheter avec son prêt, diverses qualités de produits cosmétiques avec les grossistes de Bougouni. Elle effectue ses ventes au marché et à domicile, en détail au comptant et à crédit à une clientèle mixte .
Elle envisage réaliser un bénéfice mensuel moyen de 50.000FCFA qui sera investi dans les activités et rembourser le prêt.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
