Mrs. Savoeurn Saroeurn Village Bank Group's story

The Village Bank is located in Traeuy Troeng Village in the Kandal Province and consists of 18 members. Mrs. Savoeurn S. is the village bank president. She is a laborer who works in the for-profit field. She is a 36-year-old widow with two children, one of whom is a vegetable farmer while the youngest one is attending the local school.

Although Mrs. Savoeurn S.'s family members have different businesses, they still live in poor conditions. In order to improve her standard of living, Mrs. Savoeurn S. has decided to ask for a loan to buy piglets to start a new breeding pig business. She hopes to increase her income and improve her living conditions with this loan. Mrs. Hourn S. was not able to provide a photo of herself so her husband is pictured instead.

This is a village bank loan consisting of mainly end-of-term loans. Four members have end-of-term loans and the rest have monthly payment loans. These members are not required to pay any principal on the loan until the very end of the loan term. End-of-term (EoT) loans are AMK's main product because it is the most beneficial to Cambodia's poor. It allows them to repay portions of the principal whenever they are financially able to. Most clients start to make payments many months before the end of the loan term. Almost all of AMK's clients make their payments on time.
