Kelvin Enrique's story

Kelvin, 21, is in a common-law marriage and does not have any children. He is currently the breadwinner of his household, as his partner is studying and does not work. With his business and his work, he fights every day to give her the opportunity to study. He makes a living selling pigs. He learned about this business with a friend. He works for about 10 hours per day between his business and his work in a carpentry shop.

Kelvin lives and runs his business in San Miguel de los Bancos el Cantón del Amor. This area has many tourist and leisure attractions which are popular among domestic and foreign tourists. One of the canton's traditions are its festivals, with popular dances and the famous burning of a model castle. The people of this canton are very happy, friendly, and relaxed with all of their visitors.

Kelvin is applying for a loan to fix up and expand his pigpen, which will allow him to increase the number of pigs he buys. With this investment, he hopes to improve his financial income and improve his quality of life. Kelvin is grateful to Fundación Alternativa and to Kiva for their support and for this opportunity.
