Santos Rosa's story

Mrs. Santos Rosa B. L. is 39 years old, lives at 219 San Martín Street in the Mache district in the province of Otuzco in the department of La Libertad, Perú. She completed primary school and did not continue studying because she did not like it. She said she liked business better. When she was seventeen years old she married Juber Aredo with whom she had a daughter and a son. She has raised them alone as she is separated from her husband. She started her business selling cheese and with the help of the first loan from Manuela Ramos which was for 300 soles she bought groceries with which she started to supply a small store. She paid back this loan in four months.
With this loan of S/. 2000 soles, which she will pay in 4 months, she will buy rice, sugar and oil to continue supplying her store. Rosa is a very brave and entrepreneurial woman who struggles through life alone, confronting a society that does not understand how it is to be a single mother raising two children. She belongs to the Progresistas Communal Bank and serves as the secretary. She dreams of going on a trip to Chile.
