Irene Alexandra's story

Irene is a member of the El Credito lending group and is in her fourth cycle with her friends. They share happy moments in every meeting and she takes a break from her daily routine. At the same time, the loans help her to grow her business. She lives in Cuenca, a city surrounded by mountains because of its accidental geography. It has been a World Heritage Site since December of 1999 and there are various places from which to enjoy nature. It’s people maintain their culture and traditions.

Irene is 46 years old, married and has three adult children who are now married and on their own. Her husband is a professional driver and drives his own taxi. They own their home.

Irene has been making and selling typical food (hornado, peel, cascarita, Guinea pig) for 20 years and works her business seven days a week without a fixed schedule. She will use the money from this loan to buy ingredients to prepare her dishes. She will also buy new tables and place settings. Her goal is to grow her business.
