A loan of $500 helped to buy materials to make tiles such as white dirt, firewood, clay and straw.

Samuel Antonio's story

Samuel, 25, is a young man with a lot of initiative when it comes to working. He studied through second grade but could not continue due to a lack of resources so he had to learn a trade in order to support himself. He is married and his wife is a homemaker, but also raises chickens in the backyard and helps with his tile activity.

He has his own tile making business and much experience in this activity. He used to be a farmer and cultivate the land but it was not very profitable so he decided to sell tiles. His father was the one who taught him the manufacturing technique and he also helps in the process. The local people in the canton where Samuel lives are mainly involved in tile production as their main activity, followed by agriculture. They work Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Samuel needs a loan to buy materials to make tiles (white dirt, firewood, clay and straw) since it is the season with the highest demand and he needs to invest more in order to earn more income.

His dream is to have his own house and expand his business, prioritizing expenses so he can save and, in the short-term, realize his dream for his wife and himself.
