Betty's story

Betty is 48 years old and lives in Seclepea City of Nimba County, which is rich in nature resources and where living conditions are much better than the capital city of Liberia, and has the second largest population of all counties in Liberia. She described herself as a hardworking woman. She has lived all her life in Seclepea. Traditionally she is married and her husband is a farmer. They have five children between 23 and 30, she said, and only two of her children are in school and live in the same house. With a little money from her husband, she was able to establish her table business where she sells pepper, okra, rice, oil, etc. in the local market. She spends 10 hours per day on her business, from Monday to Saturday. One problem she faces is having fewer goods on her table, so she is requesting a loan to purchase more pepper, okra, rice, oil, etc. for her business. Her plan is to one day to build a modern house.
