A loan of $650 helped to purchase materials to build a safe latrine for her family.

Saren's story

Saren, aged 23, is a farmer from a rural village of Pursat province, Cambodia. She is married and has one daughter who is photographed with her in the photo. Her husband also works as a farmer, so they work together on their own farm growing rice to sell. Like other farmers, Saren is using traditional farming methods in tilling their farm and earns a decent income to provide for her family.

As of now, she is asking for a loan to build a safe latrine for her family, as she doesn't have a latrine and she realizes that this will not help her family's health. Thanks to the water loan program with a special rate offered by Hattha Kaksekar Limited (HKL), Saren is encouraged to focus on ensuring healthy living conditions, to safeguard the health of her family, and to protect the environment.
