Bellavista (Cuenca) Group's story

The "Bellavista" loan group consists of eight women and one man. They share pleasant moments at the same time that they support each other. Everyone's goal is to offer better well-being to their children. They are kind and gracious people who still maintain the culture and traditions of their towns. They live throughout the Victoria del Portete parish in Cuenca, a place that enjoys a cool climate and wide plains that are suitable for raising livestock. Their source of income is especially raising animals and agriculture. Many people also work at various jobs in the city. One of the members of this group is Señora Maria. She is 64 years old. She is a single mother with eight adult children who are married and live independently. She does not have her own house, so she lives in a house that they lend to her so that she can take care of it. Since she was very young, Doña Maria has done farm work, work that gave her the opportunity to advance and offer her children better opportunities to advance. She raises chickens, guinea pigs, and cattle, from which she sells the milk. She also farms, and what she harvests is for use in her home and also for sale. Her loan is to buy cattle. Her goal is to continue growing in her animal-raising business.
