A loan of $3,225 helped a member to buy a loom and some wool.

Las Triunfadoras Group's story

The "LAS TRIUNFADORAS" communal bank is starting its sixth loan cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Collpani focal center. It is made up of eight members, and is led by an executive committee of which Delfina is the president. The businesses that the members of the communal association operate are varied, among others: selling athletic shoes, carpentry, selling lamb meat, driving, selling baby clothes, weaving, making jackets, a mechanic shop, and selling shoes. The loan that is being taken will benefit small microbusiness owners such as Delfina. She says that she joined Pro Mujer five years ago, after having been invited by a friend who is a member of the group. She now has a business weaving and selling leggings. She says that she learned this business on her own initiative several years ago, as a means of earning income. The loan will be used to increase her capital (by buying looms and wool) that she will acquire from stores in the city of La Paz and then install in her work space. This type of work allows her to earn income to help support her family, as she lives in a common-law relationship and has three children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responded that she likes the training that is provided by the organization.
