A loan of $1,200 helped to buy food and medicine for her chickens and pigs.

Glenda Rocio's story

The province of Manabí is located in the 24 De Mayo canton. This is where the Nuevos Horizontes credit group meets. The area is known for its beautiful landscapes and its hardworking people dedicated to agriculture and raising animals.
This is where Ms. Glenda lives. She is 27 years old and married with two children, ages 9 and 6. Her children are in school, and her husband works in commerce and agriculture.
To help her husband with the home expenses, Ms. Glenda built a small farm where she raises chickens and pigs. She buys small chickens from a distributor in the city and then feeds and cares for them for three months until they are large. Then she sells them to merchants who come to her house. She does the same thing with the pigs. That way she is able to make money for the well being of her family without leaving the house.
This loan is to buy food and medicine for the chickens and pigs. The credit group is in its fifth cycle, and Ms. Glenda likes it because the loans always help her a lot. Her dream is to give her children the best.
