A loan of $4,600 helped a member to buy rug pieces.

Amazonas De Huayna Potosi Ii Group's story

The “AMAZONAS DE HUAYNA PTOSI II” Group will begin their eighth loan cycle with Pro Mujer and Centro Focal de German Busch.

The group is made up of nine members and is governed by a board of directors. Virgina is the President.

The group has various different businesses such as selling shampoo, shoes, mobile phone accessories, braided rugs and a hardware store.

Virginia is a part of the small businesses that will benefit from this loan. She tells us that she became a member of Pro Mujer four years ago through the invitation of a friend who was already a member of the institution.

Currently she has a rug braiding business. She started this business several years ago as a family business. She decided to start her own business after having her first child.

The current loan will be used to increase capital (to buy rug pieces) which she will acquire from fairs around the city of El Alto. After she has made the rugs she will sell them to stores by client request.

This type of work allows her to gain resources to support her family. She lives with her partner and has four children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer she responds that she lives the savings offered by the institution.

One woman is missing from the the photograph as she had a doctor's appointment.
