A loan of $1,000 helped to plant 14,000 square metres of corn.

Neftali Armando's story

Neftali, 70 years old, has two children who are both married and haven't lived with him for a couple of years now. His wife died of a respiratory illness and he now only lives with one granddaughter.

He has worked his whole life growing corn, ever since he was very young, when his parents stopped sending him to school and sent him to work. He now also has a cow, which he looks after as it provides him with milk.

Neftali is requesting this loan in order to plant 14,000 square metres of corn. This isn't too easy during the summertime, because corn is an irrigated crop and he'll need to walk around carrying water in PVC piping. He needs the loan for this reason, in order to harvest his crops, which will only be possible with the help of this loan.

Señor Neftali's dream is to be able to grow 28,000 more square metres of land. This would help him in his earnings, since he can't work the way he did when he was 60 years old, and next year he will need the help of some farmers.
