Beatrice is a qualified midwife who decided to open up a drug shop so she could get money to take her children to good schools. She is an old borrower at UGAFODE Microfinance having borrowed five times. She is 46 years old and very determined to carry on her business until she gets her dream in life.
Beatrice started the business in 1999 and is happy that the business has grown slowly but steadily. She works seven days a week and works 12 hours each day. Beatrice believes that if she gets the loan money, she will re-stock the drug shop. Her drug shop is located in the busiest trading center in Ishaka and she is hopeful that she will make profits from the business. Beatrice would like to buy drugs using the loan money so that she can ably serve her customers who are the patients who come from around Ishaka.
Her hopes for the future include giving the children quality education so that they can compete favorably with other people on the job market. Her main challenges are the bad debtors who never pay and she says this affects her greatly.
