A loan of $200 helped to buy certain foods which she needs for looking after her daughter and also to buy a wheelchair so she can go out.

María Marta's story

María, who is 51 years old, is a very hard-working person. She has had no education whatsoever. Five years ago she decided to emigrate to the US to follow the American dream but then returned 2 years ago to live with her family. She has 5 children, one of whom is in the US and the 4 who she has in El Salvador are over 18 years old. One of the daughters works as a domestic help and the other broke her leg in an accident so she is not currently working. The two sons are studying at university. María is completely dedicated to looking after the daughter who had the accident, since she needs a lot of special care. María is responsible for doing all of the domestic tasks and she also helps to pay her sons' university fees. The loan will help this borrower to buy certain foods which she needs for looking after her daughter and also to buy a wheelchair so she can go out. María wants to furnish her house well, since her son who is in the US is helping her out with some items.
