Ben Group
In this Group: Sarata , Sitan , Ramatou , Kadia
The four members of the 'Ben' Group are all married women, with an average age of forty-one years, and an average of four children. Most of them live in polygamous families in Ouayerma I, a busy district in the town of Sikasso (third administrative region of Mali).

This will be the third loan for the group, who work with the field partner, Soro Yiriwaso, in order to satisfy the needs of their customers. The previous loans have all been fully and correctly repaid.

Kadia (on the far right of the photo) sells fish. She will use her loan to buy 55kg of fish (20kg of fresh fish, and 35kg of smoked fish). She buys her supplies in Sikasso, and sells them from a fixed stall in the market, for cash, to both men and women.

Kadia expects to earn a monthly average of 30,000 francs CFA, and will use her earnings to repay her loan and interest, and save for the future.

Les quatre membres du groupe BEN sont des femmes mariées avec une moyenne d’âge de 41 ans, et ont en moyenne 4 enfants.
Elles vivent la plupart dans des familles polygamiques à OUAYERMA I un des quartiers populaires de la ville de Sikasso 3ème région administrative du Mali.
Elles sont à leur 3ème prêt dans ce groupe qui évolue avec l’institution de micro finance Soro Yiriwaso afin de satisfaire le besoin de leur clientèle. Les prêts antérieurs ont été correctement remboursés.
Mme KADIA qui occupe la prémière position de la droite vers la gauche sur la photo, fait le commerce de poissons dans ce groupe de femmes BEN.
Elle compte acheter avec son prêt 55 kg de poissons (20kg de frais et 35 kg poissons fumés). Elle s’approvisionne à Sikasso.
Elle les revend à une place fixe au marché et en famille à une clientèle composée d’hommes et de femmes au comptant.
Elle envisage réaliser un bénéfice mensuel moyen de 30 000 fcfa dont une partie est utilisée pour payer le prêt et son interêt et l’autre pour son épargne.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
