A loan of $3,125 helped a member to buy cerials.

1 De Mayo Group's story

The 1 DE MAYO” communal association is beginning its fourth cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Panamericana center. It’s made up of eight members and directed by a board of directors, where Lidia serves as president. The members have businesses such as food sales, beauty salon, construction, sweater knitting and sales, cosmetic sales, and brick and stucco sales.

This loan will benefit their small businesses, including Lidia’s who has been with Pro Mujer for three cycles. She joined on the invitation of a friend who is also a member. She has a food business and says that she learned the business from her sister and it’s a family business. She went out on her own seven years ago so she could generate her own income.

This loan is to increase capital (buy cerials in quantity) that she will get in the El Alto fairs and resell from her space. This allows her to generate income to support her household since she is single and has four children.

When asked what she likes about ProMujer, she says that she likes the savings, the loans, and the healthcare.

In this group: Lidia, Martha , Gabriela, Sonilda, Lima Rosa, Freddy, Patricia Ericka , Miriam
