Juliana Maribel's story

In the area known as Estancia Vieja of the parish of Colón in the city of Portoviejo, the credit group "Estancia Vieja" meets every fifteen days. It is a place of humble people who generally work in agriculture and trade.

Juliana lives here. She is thirty-one years old. She lives in a common-law marriage and has three children from this relationship, aged one, eight, and eleven. The older children attend school. Her partner is an auto electrician.

Juliana is taking out this loan to help her partner so that he may use it for his business. He has a garage where he works every day with the help of a paid worker. He will use the loan to buy spare parts that he needs to repair vehicles. In addition to charging for repair services, he also sells these spare parts to his customers, and like so, he saves time and earns extra income.
