A loan of $700 helped to build a biogas digester.

Leab's story

Leab is a 49-year-old married woman and a loving mother of grown-up children. She is engaged in the agricultural sector farming rice on one hectare farmland in Prasat Bakong district, Siem Reap province. Her parents have transmitted this business to her and she has been working in the business so far. From her current business, she is able to make approximately $3.00 per day.

Leab would like to improve her living standard by having clean energy for household use. Because of the lack of capital, she is asking for a loan in the sum of USD 700 to build a biogas digester under the project of NBP (National Biogas Program) in partnering with HKL. After an initial investment in this system, she hopes that she won’t spend much money on fuel and have less smoke from wood or charcoal. Thanks to the green loan program with a special rate offered by Hattha Kaksekar Limited (HKL), Leab’s family can gain access to a clean energy while protecting the environment.
