A loan helped to buy animals to sell.

Segunda Lucero's story

33-year-old Segunda Lucero lives with her husband and children in Pucará district. The community is known for its warm climate and lies 2 hours away from the city of Jaén, which is in the Cajamarca region of Peru's northern sierra. The inhabitants work in agriculture, growing coffee, fruit and rice in particular.
Segunda breeds and sells small animals such as hens and ducks. She buys them in neighbouring villages and later offers them for sale to local restaurants. Her husband runs a transport service in his own motortaxi, as well as doing some building work.

Segunda Lucero has applied for a loan of 1,500 nuevos soles to buy small animals which she will then fatten up and sell to her customers. This will enable her to generate more income for her family.
