A loan of $3,075 helped a member purchase clothing.

Las Profes (Cuenca) Group's story

The loan group Las Profes (the teachers) is made up of 7 friends who all help each other in hard times and in daily problems. They are friendly and kind individuals who maintain the culture and traditions of their people. They live in the city of Cuenca, a city with natural beauty that was named a Human Patrimony Site in December 1999. It is crossed by four rivers and is a city that houses poets and athletes.
One of the members of this group is Ana. She is asking for her first loan with her group of friends. She hopes to strengthen her friendship with them all and to meet her goals.
Ana is 24 years old, married, and has a 4 year old child who attends school in the city. Her husband works for a private employer. They do not have their own home and so they rent.
Ana does all the housework, but right now she is also studying medicine at the university.
The money from the loan will be used to purchase clothing to sell to her classmates and, in this way, to begin her own home business. Her goal is to finish her studies and to become a successful professional.
