A loan of $3,275 helped a member to buy wool.

Jisquitas Group's story

The loan group "Jisquitas" will begin their second loan cycle with Pro Mujer as part of Centro Focal de Panamericana. The group is comprised of 8 members and they are directed by a board of which Remedios is the treasurer. The businesses that the members run are varied: selling aluminum pots, making suits, selling slippers, running a bakery, making fleece jackets, weaving shawls, running a neighborhood store, selling tableware.
The loan that they are requesting will benefit these micr-entreprises, including Remedios'. She tells us that she has been a member of Pro Mujer for one loan cycle and she joined on the invitation of her mother who is also a member. Currently, she has a business weaving and selling shawls. She let us know that she learned this business through observation and by looking at magazines, and she began making samples and then designing pieces for market.
The loan that she is requesting is for business capital (buying wool) from the markets in the city of El Alto and then for making and selling to her customers' orders. This manner of work enables her to generate income to maintain her home, as she lives with a partner and has a son.
When she was asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she answered that she likes the savings, the loans, and the health trainings that the institution offers.

In this group: Maria, Hilda, Irma Virginia, Remedios, Wilma Deysi, Agustin, Gladys, Flavia Lucy
