A loan of $1,000 helped to buy a pair of oxen.

Luís Alonso's story

Luis, 34, has a seventh grade level of education, his wife takes care of their home and they have four children that live with them. In his house, he lives with his children and wife so only they depend on him.

Luis has been working as a bricklayer for seven years. He learned this skill with the help of a friend that invited him to work. This is how he learned this craft and when he saw that it would give him results he decided to dedicate himself fully to this work. But for the last two years, Luis has also worked as a livestock dealer and lives 45 minutes away from town where he sells the livestock.

To buy the livestock, he has always worked with these loans of the institution, which thanks to God have opened its doors to him. In these two jobs, he works alone and he does not involve any of his family members. He works as a bricklayer Monday through Saturday from 7am to 4pm except for Wednesdays when he starting in the morning goes to the town plaza to buy and sell livestock.

The loan that he is asking for is to buy a pair of oxen, which he will sell. He sees that this will generate a profit because the plaza usually gets really busy this time of year. Through these sales he will earn more profits and he will be able to buy more livestock for the following Wednesday.

The profits will help him and his family and will improve his business and allow him to expand it much more.

His dream is to become a very well know businessman in the area and be able to buy a truck to bring the livestock to the plaza and other places where they will buy the livestock. He will achieve this will lots of work and the help of God, which will give him high income and profits so that he can provide a better standard of living for his family, academically prepare his children and also teach his children his trade.
