A loan of $3,000 helped to pay for 5 piglets, 2 oxen and forage for feeding the livestock.

Gevorg's story

Gevorg lives in Mastara village with his family. He is the father of two school-aged children. Gevorg and his wife have been involved in agriculture. They keep livestock (sheep, chickens, cows and calves) and cultivate wheat and barley. The family's only source of income comes from farming, so Gevorg works hard to gather a good harvest and a high income.

Gevorg has requested this loan to be able to increase his livestock and enlarge his farm. The loan will help him to purchase 5 piglets, 2 oxen and forage for feeding the livestock. This will increase his agricultural income and allow Gevorg to provide a better life for his family.

As this is Gevorg's first loan, it has been approved within the framework of the new joint initiative between Kiva and SEF. The first-chance loan program provides loans to people who didn’t have access to credit products before because they have no credit history. Gevorg relies on lenders' support and goodwill.
