A loan of $1,000 helped to buy two calves.

Rosa Amelida's story

Rosa, 52 years of age, is an entrepreneurial woman who strives every day to make her large family prosper. Through her efforts she managed complete grade 4 of basic education. She later got married and started a family.

Her husband works as a watchman on a chicken farm in the area. His salary is not sufficient to maintain the family and, as a result, Rosa must find ways to earn an income.

Of the 12 children they have, only 7 live with them currently. The remaining children already have their own families. These 7 children currently attend school. Rosa also takes care of her two grandchildren.

In addition to taking care of her children and doing household chores, Rosa works at a small grocery store 7 days a week in the afternoon. She has worked there for 2 years and her children help her in the afternoon after school. Before this, she earned a living raising hens and pigs. She also used to help her husband farm.

She needs the loan to buy two calves that someone wants to sell her. She currently does not have the money to take advantage of this opportunity to invest. The livestock is being sold at a lower than market price, which is why she has decided to apply for a loan. If she buys this livestock, she will profit from the purchase by later selling them at a higher price.

Her dream is for her family to have its needs met and to have daily sustenance through daily work.
