A loan of $1,200 helped to purchase fertilizer for his crops.

Sor's story

Mr. Sor L. S. is 30 years old and is a father of three children who are too young to attend school. He and his wife work growing rice on their piece of farmland, and the outputs twice a year contribute $4 each day.

In Cambodia, people grow rice twice a year, which is called "rainy season rice" and "dry season rice," but in some areas, people can grow rice up to three times per year. In order to increase his family's income, Mr. Sor L. S. would like to request a loan from Kiva via CREDIT to purchase fertilizer for his crops, buy rice crops from growers to keep in stock, and resell when the price is increasing. Moreover, he will use the leftovers of the loan to purchase a motorbike to operate a motor-taxi when he is free from his farming work. (His wife is pictured because Mr. Sor L. S. is unavailable).
