23 De Marzo (23Rd Of March) Group's story

In the city of El Alto you will find the location of Villa Exaltación. To this area belongs the association “23 de Marzo” (“The 23rd of March”). It is made up of 17 women anxious to improve their tiny businesses.

Most of the women in the group are married and they assert that it is necessary to help their spouses with the household expenses. They currently have an average of 4 children each. Some of them, for different reasons, have separated from their spouses and they have to bear the entire load of the family. Because of this they need more resources to make a living.

The primary activity in the association 23 de Marzo is making blankets, sheets, and also shirts, sports clothing, and more. These articles are sold in Perú, where they sell for more. They need capitol in order to buy more materials in larger quantities, and by this manner increase their production and generate higher earnings for the betterment of their families.
