Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,050 helped buy potato seeds, mineral fertilizers and fuel.

Normurot's story

Normurot is a resident of the Shahrituz region of Tajikistan. He is a young dekhan farmer who is 25 and married without children. He lives with his wife at his parent's house. There are 7 people in the family, and they all work in agriculture. They have an irrigated plot of land adjoining their farmhouse where they grow grain and garden vegetables. Normurot has been growing crops for more than 8 years. His father, also a dekhan farmer, taught him the ropes.

Currently, Normurot is preparing to sow his fields, and, to that end, is requesting a loan to buy potato seeds, mineral fertilizers and fuel. This loan is crucial for him and his spring harvest.
