A loan of $1,700 helped to buy rice, sugar, oil, detergent, and other products.

Cruz Adelina's story

The Virgen Del Mar credit group meets every 15 days in the beautiful San Mateo spa neighbourhood in the city of Manta, known for its beautiful beaches which are very popular with foreign and national tourists year-round. Here, most of the inhabitants work as fishermen or in other sea activities.

Señorita Cruz lives here. She is 48 years old, single, and lives with one of her brothers. Like her brother, she has an illness, but it affects her brother more because he is blind. To support herself and her brother, a few years ago Cruz set up a small shop selling basic items, which over time and with the help of loans has gone from strength to strength. In addition to selling provisions, she also sells Yanbal products (beauty products, cosmetics, and women's' accessories). She works with her brother, because she has to look after him as well as make a living. She has had this business for over 15 years, which allows her to move forwards.

She will use this loan to buy more stock for her store. She is going to buy rice, sugar, oil, detergent, and other items. She has been a member of the credit group for 11 years, and she likes it because thanks to the loans she is able to move forwards. Her dream is to continue working for as long as God allows.
