A loan of $1,500 helped to buy clothes.

Verónica Liliana's story

The credit group "Virgen del Mar" meet every 15 days in the beautiful seaside resort of San Mateo in the city of Manta. It is known for its beautiful beaches which are visited year round by domestic and foreign tourists. In this area the majority of the population make a living by fishing or working in the sea. Veronica lives here. She is 29, married and has four children aged 15, 13, 10 and 5 years old. The older ones go to school. Her husband is a fisherman. Veronica is a very good wife and housewife who also sells all kinds of clothes. She sells door to door. She works three days a week in the mornings. She takes advantage of these hours since her youngest children are in school and this way it is easier for her to go out. She sells her clothes by credit and charges for them every week. She has had this business for the past four years. This is how she helps her husband with expenses, especially the education costs for their children. This loan will be used to but all types of clothes. She has been part of the credit group since the start and she likes the benefits given to her by the bank. Her dream is to have a bigger boat for her husband's fishing work.
