Ciria Inés's story

The communal bank Hermano Gregorio meets every two weeks in the Jocay neighborhood of the city of Manta, a city known for having beautiful beaches, which are visited throughout the year, and for being a city of unrivaled beauty with many tourist attractions.

Ciria, 43, lives here. She is married and has a 19-year-old son who is married but still lives at home. Her husband is a teacher at a local university. Ciria is a housewife who, to have her own income and be able to help her husband with the household expenses, works selling clothing out of a Leonisa catalogue and Belcorp products (beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes, and women's accessories). She works three days a week, two or three hours a day. She sells her products on credit and collects money every week. She has done this for more than two years and she likes it because, in addition to earning her own money, it's entertaining and makes her feel independent. This loan is to buy clothing, perfumes, creams, and cosmetics. She has been part of the communal bank for two years and she likes it because it is easy to make payments. Her dream is to continue improving her business.
