A loan of $1,775 helped a member to purchase slippers, soap and clothing for resale.

Humuriza Group's story

Bernard is a member of the Humuriza Group, and lives in Bujumbura. He is fifty-two years old and married to Necelate, who works as a vegetable grower. Together they have six children, aged between twelve and twenty-five years. All their children attend school. He is also responsible for another child, who is a member of his extended family, and is studying. Bernard has sold various products (soap, clothes, slippers, etc) from his shop, for six years. This will be his fourth loan with the field partner, Turame. He plans to use his loan to increase his working capital and buy slippers, soap and clothing. He will then sell these products to increase his earnings. In the coming years, Bernard would like to build a solid and long-lasting house, buy a car and provide for his children's schooling.
