Naseem Akhtar's story

Naseem Akhtar baji is the wife of Z. I. and lives in the historic Yadgar area of Lahore, Pakistan. She owns a two-room brick house and has been living in it for the last 29 years. She is the mother of seven children: four sons and three daughters. Her eldest daughter is married. The next eldest has completed her 14th level in school. Her youngest daughter has completed her 12th level in school.

Naseem Akhtar baji’s husband runs a cosmetics and movie-making business. Basically, he divides his shop into two parts: one part is based on cosmetics sales and the second part is comprised of movie-making equipment, such as cameras and film rolls. Her husband is a well-known person in the community and has run his businesses for the last 35 years. People from within and outside the community call upon him to make movies of various functions, such as birthdays and weddings. In Pakistan, people usually get married between the months of September to December, and this is the busy season for her husband. Therefore, Naseem baji is applying for a loan to buy a digital movie camera for her husband so that he will be able to meet the demand of his customers.
