Jacquiline is 35 years old and has two school-aged children. She assists her husband in providing for their family's needs by selling fish, earning a monthly income of 10,000 Philippine pesos (PHP). She has enjoyed her membership with Paglaum MPC for ten years now. She relies on the cooperative to help her meet her funding needs. She is now asking for a loan of 50,000 PHP. She wants to buy a motor vehicle to be used for her fish-selling business. She hopes to expand her business to nearby municipalities.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
