A loan of $2,050 helped to purchase a car so she can transport crops and cattle to the market.

Odinakhan's story

Odinakhan is 43 years old, married and together with her husband is raising 4 children. Her oldest daughter is married, but the rest of her children are still in school. Odinakhan has a high school education. As a main source of income, Odinakhan raises livestock and grows crops, a business that she started 23 years ago with a purchase of cattle for 8,000 som (KGS). All of her children and her spouse are involved in helping her with the farm work. Thanks to Odinakhan's hard work, she now has three milking cows and 25 sheep. She also has a 1.08 hectares of land where she grows corn and clover for the cattle feed as well as rice for sale. Her monthly income is 15,000 som (KGS).

In order to expand her business, Odinakhan turned to the microfinance bank of Bai Tushum & Partners for a loan to purchase a car. The car is needed to transport harvested crops and cattle to the market for sale. Having her own means of transport, will allow Odinakhan to save on the transporting costs and will give her the opportunity to reach her best customers. Profits from her business, Odinakhan is planning to re-invest into her enterprise and to set some aside for her children's education.
