Kanou Group's story

The Kanou group is made up of married women. They are, on average, 40 years old and have three children. They live in traditional extended families in the village of Yarankabougou, Wacoro commune, Dioila prefecture, Koulikoro region (second administrative region in the Republic of Mali). The women know each other from family, neighborhood, and friendship ties.

The group works selling clothing, small animals, and other goods. They are on their second group loan.

Sounkou, the third person standing from the right, sells goats. She plans to buy two goats in the village that she will resell in the market in Dioila. She buys and sells the goats within a period of one week.

Sounkou hopes to earn a monthly profit of 7,500 francs CFA which will be added to her business capital.
