A loan of $475 helped to buy her son a bull calf to produce beef to sell.

Safia's story

Safia is a 50-year-old, married woman living with her spouse and four children in the area of Lahore, Pakistan. Her husband has grown old and sits idle at home.

Safia's elder son owns a butcher shop. He earns sufficient income for the whole family. In the beginning, he purchased a small quantity of beef from the market and then sold it in his locality. Now, he has gotten a lot of experience and has retained a list of good customers in a short time.

Now, Safia's son wants to buy a bull calf to produce more beef to sell, but he does not have enough cash in hand. Therefore, Safia requested a loan from Kiva’s field partner, BRAC Pakistan, so her son can buy a bull calf to produce beef.
