A loan of $1,625 helped to buy clothing.

Carmen Yolanda's story

Carmen has been a member of the communal bank "Fe y Alegría" for 15 years. She enjoys it because she shares pleasing times with her friends in every meeting. She lives in the city of Cuenca which was designated a World Heritage Site in December, 1999. It is surrounded by four rivers and its local people are kind, gentle and cordial, and still respect their culture and traditions.

Carmen, 60, is a widow and has four adult children, two of which are married and live independently. Her single children work and help her out economically. She lives in her own home.

For several years Carmen has been in business selling a wide variety of second hand clothing. She also does embroidery and knits sweaters.

She plans to use the loan to buy clothing to sell to her customers. Her goal is to stay in business and grow.
