A loan of $1,625 helped to buy spare car parts.

Luis Medardo's story

In the city of Tosagua, the communal bank Esperanza Nueva (New Hope) gets together every 15 days. This city is known for being very dynamic; most of its inhabitants make a living through agriculture and raising animals because it is an area with great vegetation.

Señor Luis lives here. He is 61 years old and separated from his wife. Out of this relationship he has eight children: six are older, and two are 9 and 12 years old and in primary school and high school.

In order to make a living and make sure his family does not lack what is necessary to live, Don Luis dedicates himself to transporting freight in his own car. He works every day in his car transporting freight to other places. Many merchants seek him out to go to the fields to buy fruits and vegetables to then take to markets in other cities. With each load he earns what is necessary to get ahead in life.

He is going to use this loan to buy certain spare parts for his car so he can provide better service. He has spent three years with the communal bank and likes it because the loans have helped him greatly when he needed it. His dream is to buy a new car and thus offer better service to his clients.
