A loan of $875 helped to buy fabrics and other sewing materials.

Colón Cristobal's story

The Communal Bank "San José" meets every 15 days in the canton of Jaramijo. This area is known for its beautiful beaches that line the coast of this lovely place. Most of the residents are hard workers who are devoted to jobs related to the sea.

Don Colón lives in this place. He is 56 years old, married, and has 10 children. Nine of them are adults and the youngest is 16 years old and a high school student. Two of his children still live at home. His wife is a homemaker.

Don Colón is a tailor by profession. He learned this profession many years ago. Don Colón has a tailoring shop where he makes all types of clothes for men and children. He works according to the orders he receives from specific individuals who are familiar with the quality of his work. Don Colón also has seasonal work since he makes uniforms for institutions, elementary schools, and high schools in the area. He works every day from 6:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sometimes he works much later whenever he has orders that need to be delivered. Don Colón has been in this profession for more than 35 years and it has enabled his children and his family to get ahead.

This new loan will be used to buy fabrics and other sewing materials. He has participated in four loan cycles with his Communal Bank and enjoys being a member because the help the loans have provided have allowed him to move forward. His dreams include continuing to get ahead.
