A loan of $350 helped to buy more items to sell, including pure water, drinks, cigarettes and biscuits.

Lamrana's story

Lamrana is 35 years old and single. She has four children. She runs a retail business in Masuba, Northern Province in Sierra Leone.

She has been in this business since 1990, selling pure water, drinks, cigarettes and biscuits, in her community. Her business is the only source of income she has. She says that her major hardship is poor electric power supply.

Lamrana requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone, to purchase more pure water, drinks, cigarettes and biscuits, with which to expand her business. She says that the extra income from this loan will help her to take care of her parents and increase her business. In the future, she would like to open a big provisions store in the community.
