A loan of $3,925 helped a member to buy food supplies.

Despertar (Cuenca) Group's story

The loan group Depertar (Awakening) is comprised of 8 women who live in the city of Cuenca. This city has been designated a World Heritage Site since December 1999. It has various places for enjoying nature, doing extreme sports, and spending time with family. The members are friendly and kind people who work day in and day out to improve their economic situation and their homes in order to give their families better opportunities. One of the members of this group is Jessica, who is 25 years old, single, and doesn't have children. She lives in her mother's house and she helps her with the household expenses as the house they live in is leased. Jessica works as a waitress in a local restaurant and has been doing this for 3 years. She works Wednesday to Sunday. This loan will be used to start her own business selling fast food. She is going to buy food supplies and hopes to grow with the business. Her goal is to finish college.
