In her hometown of Baton Rouge, 35-year-old Shawanda owns and operates Platinum Events 225, an event planning organization.

To help her friends and family, Shawanda put her talent of event planning to work for many years. It wasn’t until July 2013 when she decided to truly get to work and made the decision to utilize her talents and turn her passion into a business.

As a start-up, Shawanda limits her business to weddings, parties, reunions, funerals, and other traditional family get-togethers, but was in need of funds to market her new business and complete projects.

Shawanda is a returning client of Accion Texas Inc. and is aware of the benefits gained from applying for a business loan from the nonprofit organization. She says without the loan, she would not have the funds needed to accept and complete current projects she was offered, or advertise to reach a larger market or gain new clients.

Currently, Shawanda works alone but plans to hire one full-time and two part-time employees in the future. View all that Shawanda has to offer on her website or Facebook page here:
