Group 16 - An Thanh 01's story

Ms. Din, 59, works in agricultural production with a monthly income of approximately 700,000 VND. Her husband is disabled, and her family is ranked as a poor household in their community. Din and her husband are now living in a house with their grown son who is married. Her son has a child who is now studying at a secondary school. She has been a member of the Women's Union since 1974. Ms. Din is fully aware of the fact that using a degraded double-pit latrine poses a health risk to her and her family members, her community, and the environment. However, she has not yet been able to construct a septic tank latrine due to a shortage of funds. With a portion of this loan, she will be able to buy materials to build a hygienic septic tank latrine and a hand-washing device with soap. Those facilities would help her family improve health, living conditions, and safety, particularly at night and during rainstorms. In addition, the facilities will provide convenience, cleanliness and privacy for all family members, as well as contribute to the environment protection of the community. In the picture, Ms. Din is the first from the left.
