A loan of $2,425 helped a member to buy salon equipment and to paint the salon so it will attract more customers.


Bega Kwa Bega Group's story

Islam, who is in his early 20's, is single. He has been running a barber shop for one year now. He works from 9:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily and is able to make a small monthly profit.

This will be his 4th loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. He used the previous loans to buy a new barber machine and salon equipment. He has paid back all his loans successfully. He used the profit for household expenses. He will use this loan to buy salon equipment and to paint the salon so it will attract more customers. He dreams of building his own house.

Islam will share this loan with his loan group "Bega Kwa Bega" which has ten members who will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
