A loan of $1,300 helped to buy 4 steers.

José Pedro's story

Jose is 60 years old. He went to school as far as the sixth grade, and then had to leave school due to poverty. He is married, and his wife works in the home. They have two sons who are 32 and 34. One of them is married, and the other lives with them, but is no longer a student and works in agriculture, so they have no dependants. Jose has worked as a miller for 15 years. He learned this trade in order to support his family. Before becoming a miller he worked in agriculture, which he learned from his father. He has also worked for 40 years as a tailor, making pants after his day working at the mill. His day starts at 4:30 in order to go to work at the mill, which takes about 20 minutes, and where customers start to arrive about 5 am. His day ends at 4 pm, when he returns to his home. The loan will be used to buy 4 steers, which he hopes to sell in order to buy his own mill. His dream is to have his own mill, because he is tired of walking to work, and dreams of working at home. He would also like to build a brick house, because the one that he owns is made of mud, and to buy 2 more steers.
